The customer called us after noticing their GE Profile French door refrigerator was no longer keeping food cold. The freezer had also stopped freezing, and they could hear the compressor clicking on and off every few seconds without the unit actually running. The interior lights and control panel were functioning normally, but no cooling was occurring in either compartment.
Our technician performed a full diagnostic and confirmed the compressor had failed. It was drawing locked rotor amps and tripping on the overload protector, which explained the repeated clicking sound. We replaced the compressor with a genuine GE OEM unit, installed a new drier filter, pulled a vacuum on the sealed system to remove moisture, and recharged it with the correct amount of R-134a refrigerant. After allowing the system to stabilize, we confirmed both the refrigerator and freezer compartments were reaching their target temperatures within specification.
We repair all GE refrigerators across Tempe and the Phoenix Metro area. Same-day appointments available.
